OUR TOUGHEST DAY: PRAISING HIM IN THE STORM!

I believe that sometimes when people are going through difficult challenges in life they think they are the only one that goes through difficult things. The Bible is clear that in this life we will have trials and tribulation.

John 16:33 I have told you all this so that you may have peace in Me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world."

Romans 5:3 We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. 4 And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. 5 And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love.

When it is you that is going through difficult times these verses can be very hard to digest. I know that when I lost my wife of 28 years it was difficult but it was Jesus who brought me through it and in the trials and tribulation He indeed made me stronger!

This morning Angie and I woke up to what was going to be one of the best days of our three wonderful years together. We were on top of the world because we were going for our first doctor’s appointment to see our baby in the womb! We were so happy and excited! We laughed, giggled and cracked jokes. It seemed like life could not get much better for us. Never did we think that in a short time we would be off that mountain high experience and in mourning.

When we arrived at the doctor’s office they had not opened yet. We were early and excited! We looked at the flowers and were just bursting with happiness. They opened, got us checked in, and soon called us back. I just knew this was going to be so awesome! The technician started the ultrasound by explaining the different things we were looking at. When she got to our baby I knew that it was the baby but she kept moving all around so then I wasn’t quite sure. I then asked her if that was not the baby and with the look that was on her face I knew right away that we were going to be receiving bad news. She then said there was no heartbeat. Angie and I were crushed! The woman was a solid Christian and she started to comfort us using a great deal of scripture. She prayed over us while Christian music played in the background. We knew that the Lord had her there for us.

We were led into another room where a midwife explained our options. Angie and I then left in shock. I knew for sure that we were going to have a healthy baby. Angie had been doing all the right things and studying to know what was going on inside of her. We have no idea why things turned out this way, but, we do know that Jesus will never leave us or forsake us. We know that we must stay strong in Him and let Him guide us through this.

We are putting out our story so maybe this can be helpful to someone else going through difficult times. Maybe someone else will know someone that is going through the same thing and they can say “hey, I know a couple that you need to talk to that went through what you are going through.”  We pray that through our trials we will be able to help someone else. Angie and I ask that you please pray for us, for privacy and no visitors right now. She is planning to deliver naturally so we don’t know when this will occur. God Bless!

Matthew 5:4 God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

James 1:2 Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. 3 For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.

Terry and Angie, I am so sorry. My heart and prayers are with you both. We know that God does not put more on us than we can handle. But in times of grief we have to mourn. I know that you all are feeling the healing hands of the Lord. Blessings and love sent your way.

I know a couple in PA who had a similar experience. The doctors encouraged her to have a DNC because of her advanced age(she was in her late 40's with other heath issues). They too were crushed. They set up the appointment for the procedure. That morning Robert, the dad requested one more ultrasound. The docs were somewhat aggravated but did as he requested. Imagine their surprise when there was a strong heartbeat. Some months later Robert delivered his little girl on the sidewalk outside their home in a ice storm (just couldn't make it to the hospital.) I'm not saying this is what is going to happen for you guys but with GOD all things are possible. I just cannot begin to express how much you two have come to mean to me in a short year. Blessings and please know we are praying for both of you. GOD has a plan and purpose for this...it was no surprise to him.

God used the lose of our baby as a wonderful testimony of his faithfulness. Here is the quick version. Our 5yr old son had been praying for a baby brother. When he heard the news of our lose, he wanted to pray right there with a simple prayer. He did and then he said, Mom come watch a movie with me. In his mind, a quick simple prayer was all it took to restore the lose and bring about a brother. The very next week, God led me to share that story unknowingly with another mother about to lose a baby. Since then he has led me to tell that story many times over the years to hurting mothers. 2 Cor 1:3-5 I firmly believe God blessed us with our lose so that we may comfort others with the comfort that God provided us. May God bless you also, so that one day you too can see this lose as a blessing. p.s. Our son did get his little brother. We were praying for a girl, but our son said, "See God does let the older brother pick". The simple and pure faith of a child - may we all have it. And later, they both got that little sister too via adoption.

Re: "unknowingly". God very clearly called me to attend a meeting I had not previously attended and very clearly told me to share my story. Nothing "happened", but the next week, a lady shared that she was the one the story of faith was for as she had a DNC already scheduled for a few days after my telling. What a joy to be used by the Lord.
