This picture was Elijah yesterday after coming to our headquarters. I have ministered to him a number of times in the past. Yesterday he came in and said he "was tired". Elijah had worn the same clothes for at least a week that he is wearing in the picture. The smell was just about unbearable that came off of him. He looked at me and said "Pastor, I know that you smell me and I am sorry". I just said "that's alright" and continued talking to him. It was hard with the smell but I just kept thinking "what would Jesus do" and I knew that Jesus would love him regardless of the circumstances. He said "all I want to do is get clean". He said "I want to wash my body and clean up the inside of me too"! I have waited for this day to come as I do for so many out there.
Yesterday Elijah was wearing everything he owned. In the bag he is carrying was a pair of shorts, underwear, socks, 2 shirts, and a new pair of tennis shoes. The shoes he was wearing hurt his feet so bad that he limped in pain. I took him across the street to get his hair cut this morning. He said that he had not had a haircut in a barber shop since his grandfather would take him when he was a little boy. We put him up in The Budget Inn last night then again for another night just a short time ago. Elijah had not slept in a bed since December 15th when he was released from prison. No wonder it was hard waking him up this morning!

Now here is Elijah all showered and cleaned up. He has been sleeping outside and wherever he could lay his head. He wears the rag on his head here because of being ashamed of what his hair looked like. He is pointing to the name which is setting him free! The bag in his hand contains two foot long steak sandwiches from Subway. That is what he really wanted! I told him to get whatever foot long he wanted and I heard that still small voice say "get him two". He ate both of them before going to bed last night and was hungry this morning!
This is Elijah after his haircut. He kept saying "I feel so good"! He is very polite. His world fell apart after his mother died. The only time he has ever been outside of Durham is when he went to prison for some theft charges. I have been working on the place in Memphis since last night and just as we were getting ready to send him all the beds filled up. They said they would get him in by Monday at the latest but in Durham you can not let someone sit around in this mess.
Now I may be sending him to join Josh in Indiana. I was so blessed to find out that Josh is in Montana on a mission trip to an Indian reservation with the rest of the home that he is in. Josh Lennox ministering to the Indians of Montana! Who would of thought that? I am so happy for him! We will make a decision in the morning where to send Elijah.

Does the hat look familiar Roland Leary? Elijah has heard over and over that JESUS is the only one that is going to be able to get him on the right track. He is excited and scared at the same time for the change that is coming in his life.
I ask you to join me in praying that Elijah will get his life on track. If you can zoom in you can see that he has hazel eyes. He is a good looking young man. He has so much of the world in him that needs to be removed but that will come. I have already removed a couple layers! It has been very funny hanging out with him out front of our headquarters because people that know him just start cracking up laughing because there is such a change in him. I have laughed alot today!
He threw the other clothes away that he had. I do not know if they make a cleaner that would have removed the funk that was in them. I would like to be able to get him a couple more pair of shorts before he leaves town. What I listed above was his entire wardrobe. If we send him to Indiana we will not have to pay as much for the bus. I believe it will be around $225. We could use some help with this if the Lord lays in on your heart to help! A huge thank you to the Fuller's in Amarillo for picking up the cost of the room for tonight.
