HELPING AT "THE MAC"

We loaded the van with coats, hats, gloves, blankets and other clothes to go and help the people of "The Mac" late yesterday afternoon. I was blessed to have Seth Richardson and David Vanie with me for the first time. The ministry to the people went into the evening in the bitter cold. So many people came out some without even coats to do some free shopping on Jesus! Think about it, how many of us would even shop without a roof over our heads and the heat or air that we need to keep us comfortable? In places like this the people do whatever they need to do to survive.

Picture
Here Seth Richardson just finished ministering to a family and now he is praying for them. Seth and David really have a heart for the lost!

The dad is someone that I have worked with a few years ago. He has been working on turning his life around and he was so happy to tell me of the changes he has made. It was awesome seeing him taking care of his kids!

Picture
The kids are so precious and I just love this picture of this little guy. He saw the stuffed animal horse and would not let go of it. He was such a cute little guy!

Picture
Here he is with his brother. Their dad had told them to say thank you and I told them that Jesus had given them the things and to point up and thank Him!

Picture
Here is Seth and David with Twin and Twone. I have ministered to both of these guys in the past. We were able to minister and pray for both of them. Pray that they completely surrender to the Lord.

Picture
Here of other pics of people shopping even after it got dark. Seth turned his car around and put his headlights on the items so that people could continue to get what they needed. Two thirds of all the things were gone before we left. I lined up a couple people to oversee things for today and to clean up any mess. I always tell them if the clean up is not done I will take things to a different area. Most of the time they do a good job of taking care of everything. Many of the people out there I have been ministering to for over seven years.

We had a great time in Jesus with the people of "The Mac". We were able to minister into some tense situations that we ran across also. Praise the Lord for all He is doing!

SOMETIMES WE THINK WE HAVE IT ROUGH?

I have been awake since around 2:30 this morning thinking about people that we ministered to and served yesterday. The HolyWay Cafe is booming for JESUS! The managers, Lew and Darlene Mack Seger are doing an absolutely fantastic job there! I walked into a jam packed room of happy people yesterday morning. Angie and I absolutely love seeing this! The coordination of the cafe and our headquarters is working like never before.

The things that have bothered me this morning have been first, a pregnant prostitute who came to the cafe without a proper coat and in shorts yesterday. Of course she did not announce why she did not have other clothes to put on but she told me. She lives in an abandoned house. Angie has taken her home before and was heartbroken as she watched her climb through a window into where she resides with no power or much of anything else. To make matters even worse she has a supposed boyfriend who had gotten mad at her the day before yesterday. They both use the same bucket (I will not use the name she uses for it) to go to the bathroom in and he decided to empty the bucket on all of her clothes and belongings! To have very little and to have something like that happen, how awful is that? She complained of her back aching along with other things from being pregnant. Sometimes we think we have it rough? I was going to go and purchase some sweat pants but I had an important meeting I had to take care of first. Renee and Darlene covered that for me which was a huge blessing but she took off before I could get them to her. She has had an awful crack habit off and on for the nearly seven years that I have been ministering to her. She has been pregnant I don't know how many times since I've known her. I can only remember one time when she lost a baby. Most of the time they are healthy! I will be looking for her this morning to get her the clothes.

Then there was another prostitute who had just got out of jail who also lives in an abandoned house. She has no shoes and is wearing flip flops. She is a size 8 if any of you ladies have extra shoes or boots. If I do not hear of any we will buy her some today because of the frigid temps that are coming.

I had to reopen the cafe for her and three homeless guys yesterday because they were all hungry. The Holy Spirit quickened a message inside of me for all of them after they had finished eating. I told them that I have personally ministered and talked with all four of them on a number of occasions. I said "if the Lord was to come back right now what would happen"? Only one said "I think I would be ok". After asking him some questions and telling him about the false doctrine he was taught it was even more clear to them what would happen. I said because you have been fed you would all go to hell full. I told them that this is by their own choice because they refuse to have a true relationship with Jesus. I love all four of them and consider them my friends. I believe all four of them know how much I care for them. Lew and Darlene are doing a great job of ministering to these people also.

Sometimes when I am in my warm and comfortable bed it becomes uncomfortable when I think of what these people are going through. I also told them that they are a decision away from getting their lives together! I pray they do this before it is too late. Any of the four of them could end up on "The Wall". Please pray for these people!

The scripture Lew and Darlene have on the chalk board at the Cafe for this week.....

Mark 8:34  Then, calling the crowd to join His disciples, He said, "If any of you wants to be My follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow Me.

I REFUSE TO NOT STAND FOR CHRIST!

I am sure that this will upset some people but my goal is not to please people. My goal is to please the Lord and to do His will. My goal is to hopefully be able to explain God’s truth to people so they do not one day end up in hell.

Galatians 1:10 Obviously, I'm not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ's servant.

Too many in this country do not have their priorities right when it comes to serving the Lord. I want to touch on several things to use as examples. I am sure that once again people will unfriend me on Facebook, they will say that I am full of pride, they will say that I am judging, they will say that I am racist, etc. Some will choose to quit contributing to this ministry as so many have when they do not get their way.

Matthew 5:10 God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. 11 "God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are My followers. 12 Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way.

I am not exactly sure why people think that when I post about what the Lord is doing through this ministry that it has anything to do with pride. It has nothing to do with me but it has everything to do with Him! I am merely a messenger and a servant. I am nothing without Him! I am very excited to be used by Him on a daily basis. I would say that I post on somewhere between a quarter and a third of what actually goes on in this ministry. I have a number of people including some seniors that miss the posts when I do not get them out. There is not near enough time to do more. I want people to know how He is moving and encourage others to get busy for the Lord. If we are truly in Christ we should be excited about what the Lord is doing in different ministries.

Galatians 6:14 As for me, may I never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world's interest in me has also died.

The bottom line is that I must be the messenger the Lord has called me to be. I refuse to be a people pleaser! I refuse to fit into someone’s club by going with the flow! People that do this are going to one day stand before the Lord and it will not be good. In my examples although I do not like to talk about “color” I will use two white people and only one black person. This should keep the Black Lives Matter people from calling me a racist. I always have to chuckle to myself when someone throws the racist card at me because in the last over 17 years I have probably worked with people with skin color darker than mine as much as anyone in the country. I have fantastic relationships with people with skin color darker than mine.

Alright now it is time to vent about a few people. I will start with Lady Gaga. I was sickened to see the positive responses of her singing the National Anthem prior to the Super Bowl. I will excuse anyone that does not know that she is a devil worshipper. If you google Lady Gaga/Satanic you will see plenty of information to back up what I am saying. Again, if you didn’t know that, that is one thing but if you did would you give praise to Satan if he had a beautiful voice and was to sing it himself? Last night you heard from one of his demons. In this country the Lord is definitely thrown into the backseat by worldly celebrities, sports figures and many others. Why is it that people do not make a stand for Christ as they do for these people? I know the answer to that and it is because they are really not “of Him”. This morning on my ride into Durham I had the radio tuned to “K-Love”. I had it tuned there for the very last time! I choose to call that station “K-Lame”! They were actually praising Lady Gaga for her performance. I have heard so much on that station that opposes the Word of God. The problem lies with professing Christians wanting to go with the flow instead of standing for the Lord and calling things out for the wretched way they are! I see more and more every day why Matthew 7:13-14 says what it says. There are very few “narrow way minded” true Christians in this country!

Matthew 12:30 "Anyone who isn't with Me opposes Me, and anyone who isn't working with Me is actually working against Me.

The Amplified also says it very well…..

Matthew 12:30 He who is not with Me [definitely on My side] is against Me, and he who does not [definitely] gather with Me and for My side scatters.

As this crazy world gets crazier there will be many that will fall away from following Jesus! The Word of God is clear on this. The Word says that even the righteous will be scarcely saved! How can people be so foolish to think that their lame so called Christian walk will lead them to eternity with the Father? Judgment is coming people!

1Peter 4:17 For the time has come for the judgment to begin from the house of God. And if it first begins from us, what will be the end of those disobeying the gospel of God? 18 And if the righteous one is scarcely saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

1Peter 4:17 For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 AND IF IT IS WITH DIFFICULTY THAT THE RIGHTEOUS IS SAVED, WHAT WILL BECOME OF THE GODLESS MAN AND THE SINNER?

Very few will make a stand for Jesus Christ and I find that absolutely pitiful! I see so many that sit back or go with the majority when they could glisten for Jesus!

Mark 8:38 Therefore whoever shall be ashamed of Me and of My Words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man shall also be ashamed of him when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.

This bring me to the second person I would like to speak of and that is Peyton Manning. Angie and I went to my daughter and son in laws house to watch the game with them and our precious granddaughters since we choose to not have television stations. I wanted to watch the game primarily because of liking Manning. I had read clips of what looked like him having a relationship with the Lord. I wanted to see him retire with a victory. As always I hoped that he would give credit where it is really due and that of course being to Jesus Christ at the end of the game. I was sickened to hear his pitiful comment about drinking a bunch of Budweiser’s and a lame reference to “talking to the man upstairs”. I have never in my life heard a person with a true relationship with God refer to Him in that way. He displayed himself as your typical “american christian” which differs greatly from being a “follower of Jesus Christ”. I lost a great deal of respect for the guy. I wouldn’t watch him if he was to play again unless he was to repent and truly get right with the Lord. I see no one of the caliber of Tim Tebow. I pray that he never changes. He has stood and been attacked so many times for standing for Jesus.

Now I will comment on the last one and that is the big cry baby, fornicator and racist Cam Newton. Again, you have a guy that is in the spotlight and could be a great example for the masses of struggling youth in this country. A guy who professes to be a Christian! He recently got “his girlfriend” pregnant and was applauded by the world and “professing Christians” for behavior that will send him to hell if he does not repent. He should have been named “Fornicator of the Year”. What he does like Manning, is set an example for youth and others that look up to them. Making a mistake is one thing but stand up and admit that you were wrong so it does not cause others to follow down the same “wrong path”.

I recently glanced over an article where he was saying that he was not treated fairly because he is black. Please! Give me a break! I am so sick of hearing this racial whining! Oh yes, this is where I will be contacted about being so racist but so be it. I am going to speak the truth. I speak the same truth when I am in project areas or wherever because I want people to wake up from this curse! A friend recently sent me a video entitled Black People Are Not Christian. My first thought was whoa, if I was caught with something like this would people ever talk. I recognized that it was by Pastor Manning, a black pastor who I believe is in New York. I had heard a message from him years ago and he spoke the solid truth then so I thought when I got time I would check this out. What I found again after watching it was that he again spoke the truth. This truth of course would label him “Uncle Tom” in the comment area.

He talks of how black people are “black first” before being Christian and the fact that this cannot be! I am sure he is not talking about ALL black people. I know it is not true because of friends that I have. I do see exactly what he is talking about though in my daily ministry. A true Christian is not concerned about the color of their skin. This would fall under the “old things are gone and all things become new” when you are TRULY saved.

2Corinthians 5:17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

The Amplified even says it even better…..

2Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!

A person that clings to their former behaviors and heritage have not been truly saved. The person loves their skin color more than they love Jesus! The last time I mentioned this I was attacked big time! I am not talking only of black people having this ignorant mentality because of course you have white and other ignorant racists too! I encourage people to go and watch Pastor Manning’s message on YouTube. Most will not be able to watch it because they will not be able to stand the truth.

Getting back to Newton, he again has the ear of young kids and he can easily influence their thinking. His cry baby behavior last night was absolutely pitiful for the youth of this country to look upon. With leaders like this it is no wonder why the youth that I deal with are in such pitiful shape. Even this afternoon while ministering in one of our projects I was so torn by how messed up the kid’s lives are. Racial division is one of the devil’s biggest tools for the destruction of people’s lives. I pray that it will go away but it will not because as I said “you will always have ignorant people OF ALL COLORS who love their skin color more than they love Jesus”!

Okay I am done, let the flaming arrows begin flying! Seriously people, my desire is that people will wake up before they must bend their knees before The Holy God and have to give account for their behavior while on this earth. So many that think they are right with Christ are going to wake up one day to find themselves in hell for all eternity. His wish is that none should perish and that should be the will for all that are truly in Christ. I know that I will be attacked in a number of ways for this but it is worth it if just one person wakes up and realizes they have been wrong then repents so they can spend eternity with Jesus!

WITH JESUS ALL LIVES MATTER!

I received a phone call recently from a guy that wanted to get together with me. He said that he and his hockey team had collected some money and that he wanted to give it to me and learn more about the ministry. I asked him how he found out about us and he began to tell me the story. He said that back in December he was sitting at a traffic light and that he was thinking about what the Lord would want for him to do. He said it had really been eating at him to get involved in helping in the Lord's work. He said that just as this was coming to him I pulled up beside him in the van.

He said that he felt a message strongly from the Holy Spirit that he was to contact me and that he was to help us. We met at Ghetto Mac in the Village last Saturday. We had a great time and instantly were friends that were going to work together to make an impact for Jesus. Ang and I will be getting with him and his wife soon! We just never know what the Lord is up to. Things were very tight for this month and the $475 that he handed me really helped us out! The Lord is so awesome!

JAIL STORIES

THEY MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE

I had a situation in the jail yesterday where an inmate who had been released last summer had again been arrested. He hadn't actually been arrested but he was shipped back to Durham from prison. He had stopped by our headquarters back in the summer after not doing what he had told me he was going to do upon his release. He was with a woman and I asked him where he was living. He said that he was staying at the Budget Inn. I looked at the two of them and asked "are you having sex"? I think they were both looking for a rock to climb under. He got me aside then told me that he was. I told him that he was a fornicator and a liar and that he was on his way to hell. I was hard on him because he had taken over for a fantastic leader in the jail that had been shipped off to prison. He as many do had promised to get involved in the ministry and not to return to the old life.

Yesterday he tried to make cheap excuses and say that he really did not do what he is accused of. I again was very hard on him as I hit him with scripture on every lame excuse that he had. I told him that what he was experiencing was the fruit of a sinful life! He finally cracked and confessed to the fact that he new that he was not doing right. I then started to put him back together by telling him that I care for him and that I see the potential that he has to make an impact for Christ! He knows the Word of God but I always tell guys like him that the devil too knows the Word of God. You can't just talk it but you also must walk it! We again are on track for when he gets out in August. I told him that if he would have died in all the mess he was in that he would be in hell right now. I told him to praise the Lord that he still has breath and another chance to get it right! Pray for Shawn!

WHAT THE THUG LIFE DOES TO PARENTS

I promised a gang member (I hope to soon say ex-gang member) who I visited in the Durham County Jail yesterday that I would stop and see his parents to see how they are doing. I have been ministering to this man for close to 6 years. His mom and dad approached me at a murder scene on Hyde Park Avenue while a body was still lying under a sheet in the street. They were a very upbeat couple then seeming to have their lives together but they were very concerned about their sons ending up the same way. They said that they were both locked up in the jail and that they had heard about me working with gang members then asked if I would go see them. I promised them that I would and both of them are my friends today. The older of the two is probably the most hardcore gang member that I have ever personally met. I know of things that he has done that I hold in confidence praying that he will surrender to Jesus then make everything as right as it can possibly be. As he has told me things he will look at me with tears in his eyes and ask if the Lord can forgive him. Looking at pictures of "The Wall" at our headquarters really messed him up and I knew why. I assure him that with repentance and totally giving his life to the Lord that He will indeed forgive him. The conversation really went deep!

When I arrived at the parents house I walked in to see two people that really did not look like the people that I had met in 2010. They looked like they had aged 25 years. The house reeked of the pitiful, awful, disgusting smell of cigarette smoke! The mother never was without a cigarette in her hand the whole time I was there even after telling her that I had lost a wife to brain/lung cancers partly due to cigarettes. Cigarette smoke really tears me up and I felt sick as I drove home and now am just starting to feel better.

I had also heard loud voices coming from the house as I approached and that was them arguing with their son that I was with yesterday! This was in the hood people! No doubt that many of the things we had discussed yesterday were being torn apart by the devil! With what I heard I asked if I could talk to him and they handed me the phone. I asked him what was going on and attempted to guide him to the scriptures that I had given him to read yesterday. It was clear that the enemy definitely had control of him for now.

His parents profess to be Christians and at least when I got there were trying to talk to him about the Lord. I really like the parents but they may be Christians in their churches eyes but I do not believe by witnessing the fruit that they would be in the Lord's eyes. I always question a person truly being saved when they turn to cigarettes to get them through a situation instead of seeking the Lord. Getting back to the church situation, I know that it is said that they go to church. Many churches have people like this that say they are saved but they are never held accountable to the Word of God. I had to correct several things that were said by the dad because they went against scripture and the way I had guided their son yesterday according to the Bible. Even if it is in their house if they want me to help their love ones I will say what I need to say to keep things right! My next conversation with them will be about my concern about their souls. This gets really tough because what they consider to be Christian is different from true Christianity. I can tell this too by how messed up their sons are. There are many things that I cannot disclose that prove this also.

No doubt that this is what the gang life does to parents. Just yesterday he was concerned enough that he wanted me to stop by and check on them then he was already back to driving them crazy even more. I see the parents love for them but the gang life has taken it's toll. Such a rough situation for a son of one of gang members. He is in kindergarten and having to live among the smoke and chaos. I took time with him to talk to him about Jesus while all the craziness was going on.

This is one of so many different situations that I am working with. This situation has potential to go very bad. Please pray for wisdom, discernment, understanding and knowledge to me to work with this family. It's so important to get all of them to understand what a true relationship with the Lord really is. It is quite clear that somewhere they have been deceived.

THIS WEEK'S WORK IN THE JAIL WITH MANY ACCUSED MURDERERS

2/5/2016

Picture
The last I checked we have over 50 in the Durham County Jail accused of murder. I have been working with many of them. My heart really goes out to the kids which I mean the 16 and 17 year old's. I know from outside that the family support in so many cases is really messed up! When you hear the stories straight from their mouths it is really heartbreaking! Today I heard stories that would make most cry. I know that they tear me up but also create even a greater love for the inmate. Mother and fathers on drugs, mothers prostituting, dads being murdered young, dads beating moms, abandonment, alcoholics, pill addicts, etc.

I spoke with a 22 year old at length today. He is accused of murder. Since he was arrested he has come into the multi-purpose room every time I have been at the jail. I felt a real tug this past Tuesday that I needed to get in and spend some one on one time with him. I found out that I had met him before back in 2010 in the same pod. He was in with another 16 year old at the time. I ministered two years ago while the other kid was lying under a sheet dead! This has affected the one I was meeting with but not enough yet. He has lost other friends also to being murdered. I asked him about his relationship with the Lord and he said that he did not want to play with the Lord. He has a passion for music and he said that when he gets out that he wants to get into music. He said with the Hip Hop he would be doing alot of cussing so he doesn't want to play with God by not living for Him. It makes no sense now nor did it then! He said  that his passion for music is driven by a passion to get his mama out of the hood. He could not see any other way for this to happen. I said that he could either do music for Christ or he could do it for the devil. I told him that if he did it for Christ he needed to be real and not like the many bootleggers that are out there. I asked him the question "what percentage would you say that you are living for the Lord". He took a minute but came back with "70%". I said "ok, you were talking about that girlfriend of yours a little bit ago". What if your girlfriend would spend 70% of her time with you and 30% with another guy"? I then said "let's look at this another way, you said you were a Crip gang member right"? He said "yes". I then said "what if you spent 70% of your time with "The Crips" then spent 30% with The Bloods? He said "man, you know neither one of them would work"! I then said "exactly, neither will it work with you spending 70% of your time with the Lord and 30% with the devil. Our conversation was long and deep. I have a fantastic relationship with this young man now. I look forward to our next time together.

I met with another 22 year old accused of murder. I had never seen him before but had seen his name. An ex-girlfriend of his had asked me to stop by and see him. This young man looked so empty and lost! He had never been in one of my services. He said that at an early age he had went to church but had not been for a very long time. He was very difficult to talk to at first. As I continued to talk and tell my story there was a tear that appeared in the corner of his eye. I then started asking him questions and he started opening up. I told him about our wall and how he was a prime candidate to end up on it too. I told him that with the life he was living he would either be imprisoned or dead. By the time we finished talking he was thankful and open to talking about the Lord. I hooked him up with the pod spiritual leader to talk more.

I met with a 17 year old who is accused of murder. He is doing fantastic and hungering for the Word of God! I am very excited about him. He even showed concern for his younger brothers. He asked if I would contact his grandmother and talk to her about going to visit with them. They lost their dad due to an anger rage automobile accident when they were very young. His mother has been out on the streets as an addict and I know the name but can't place the face. He asked me to look for her and try to help her get out of her addiction and back in their lives.

I met with the 27 year old gang member who he and his brother were destroying their parents. I had to tell him that if he doesn't get it together that he will put his parents in the grave early. I also talked to him about the fact that they are not saved and he agreed with me on that. This is a very tough situation but I am not about to give up on this guy. None of this family appears to be saved! This was the one where I visited the parents late Wednesday afternoon.

I spoke briefly with an 18 year old who is accused of murder. I met with him upon his incarceration and he wasn't excited about talking to me at all. This past Tuesday he sat in on my service. Today after I finished in the room that they meet for Bible Study in the afternoon he was the first one in there carrying his Bible. I had to mess with him some and we laughed together. Such a change in such a short time. The spiritual leader on that pod who is in for doing several murders does a great job of keeping The Word going forth!

I met with an 18 year old that is in for home invasions/burglaries and he is doing fantastic. He had a huge smile on his face when he first saw me then asked me if I had heard from his mother. He said that he talked to her about me and that she now wants to talk to me.

I was really hoping to meet again with Matt who I attended court for yesterday but I was very surprised that he had been shipped back to prison already. I feel very strong that he is going to be ok. I expect to get a letter from him fairly soon.

I met with several others too. I gave my testimony to many today and I always want to make sure to give God all the glory! I told inmate after inmate that I am nothing without Christ. I assured them that He can turn any situation around if they will completely surrender to Him. I am blessed to be able to go into the Durham County Jail the way I do. I commend the Command Staff for the job they do! The jail gets a bad rap from people that have no idea what they are talking about. Earlier today at our cafe I had a question from a guy about the jail. I could tell that he was going to be negative about it in front of a bunch of other people so I just started speaking positive about it. I told him and those listening that the jail is a good jail. The negatives are started again by people that have no idea what they are talking about. I told them that I am in the jail a great deal and do not see the things that are made up by the trouble makers.

A MESSAGE FROM DARLENE SEGER

HolyWay Cafe is a place of nourishment and encouragement for many on Holloway Street and the neighborhood. They come in hungry both physically and spiritually. We try our best to give them food for both body and soul. Our prayer wall is nearly full of those wanting their names placed there.

We are marching into the enemy's camp and he is not happy! He will do whatever he can to thwart the message and prevent us from doing what God has called us to do.

With an operating budget of approximately $1200 per month financial support is a must in order to continue to reach the lost.

Please note that all monies received go directly to cover rent, utilities, insurances, and supplies. No one receives a salary.

If you are interested in helping out financially please make your checks payable to Bull City Outreach and write HolyWay Café on the memo line. You can also donate via PayPal. Go to bullcityoutreach.org to give electronically. All donations are tax deductible.

Pastor Terry Shuff and I are both available to share the scope of this ministry at your churches, civic organizations, and community meetings. Just call, text or PM us and we will be happy to set up a date to come. Blessings and thank you all for your prayer and financial support.

MATT WAS CHANGED BIG TIME BY JESUS!

Yesterday I was trying to get out of the jail so that I could get some other things done then return again at 6. The jail staff kept telling me that another inmate had requested to talk to me. I kept rolling with them and was having awesome ministry going on! When I thought I was done there was still one more. This big white guy came out all tatted out. I thought this one was going to be interesting which it much indeed was.

He started telling me about how he had never wanted anything to do with the Lord then someone had slipped a book under his door while he was recently in prison. He actually is still in prison but is in the Durham County Jail to deal with some other charges. He told me the title of the book and it was a book that I did not like because it is not scripturally correct but the Holy Spirit guided me to keep my mouth shut. He went on to tell me about the book then got to the point of what had really turned his life around. He told me that it was what led him to start reading the Bible. He told me that he was "in the hole" at the prison because of a fight in which someone had tried to stab him. He said that all he has been doing is reading the Bible. He said that through reading the Bible he was able to see how the book was not right scripturally. This really made me feel better after keeping my mouth shut about my opinion of the book. I know there are times that I miss it in this area.

He went on to tell me of all the restoration that the Lord was doing in his life. He had told me that he had gotten into trouble by stealing to support a heroin habit. He is nervous about when he gets out and wanted to know if I would help him. I guaranteed him that I would. His court date was today and he received another 12-24 months for the additional charges. Some of his family including his mother was there. I got to meet them. He had already told his mother about meeting me and instantly we were friends as she hugged me and thanked me. This guy has spent the majority of his life behind bars since he was 16 and now it is like he is smiling from ear to ear because of what the Lord is doing in his life. He is receiving love letters from his wife who he hasn't had anything to do with for the last two years and also his kids too! Even after receiving the extra time with shackles on his wrists and ankles he had the joy of the Lord as he blew his family a kiss! His family is so excited about his new life with Christ! No one is more excited than he is!

He is now 32 years old. I look forward to working with him when he gets out. I know that he is going to touch many lives for Jesus! He asked me if he could write me and I said absolutely. The Lord is really moving through this ministry in the Durham County Jail. What a blessing it is to be one of His servants! Pray for Matt!
